Designation - Title

I AM A REALTOR AND HAVE ALSO EARNED THE DESIGNATION OF GRI.

Realtor®

The word Realtor® is a registered trademark for the National Association of Realtors (NAR) which is a real estate trade association that promotes integrity and honor within its profession and amongst its members.

In Florida only a real estate agent may receive payment for services provided toward a real transaction because that agent has in hand an active Florida real estate license. But not all real estate agents are RealtorS®. All REALTORS however are real estate agents.

The cornerstone of the National Association of REALTORS is the Code of Ethics. There are 17 articles that address the professional standard that is to be given toward ; clients and customers, to the public and toward other realtors. All realtors subscribe to this Code of Ethics.

NAR's objective is to identify and take steps through enforcement of the Code of Ethics and by assisting appropriate regulatory bodies to eliminate practices which may damage the public or which discredit or bring dishonor to the real estate profession. NAR and its members are continuously striving to become and remain informed on issues affecting real estate.

GRI - Graduate, Realtor® Institute

All REALTORS are expected to maintain a higher level of knowledge of the process of buying and selling real estate beyond the 14 hours of continuing education required by the state of Florida for renewal of their real estate license. The GRI is one of the many educational opportunities offered by the NAR to assist in this objective.

The REALTOR Institute is a national program of real estate instruction administered and delivered by the state REALTOR Associations whose course of study meets the accreditation standard established by the NAR .

The GRI designation is awarded to a Realtor® after attending a minimum of 90 classroom hours and receiving at least a passing grade of 75% on all exams. The objective is to increase real estate knowledge in such areas as: taxes, real estate law, common ownership, exchanging, land and environment, investments, construction, appraisal marketing and negotiation skills.
